Red Column Pyracantha Hedge Plants

Red Column Pyracantha Hedge Plants

Red Column Pyracantha Hedge Plants

Pyracantha Red Column is an upright, evergreen screening and hedge plant. Like all Firethorns, Red Column has vicious thorns which are hidden behind clouds of white flowers in spring, numerous clusters of red berries in autumn and winter and glossy, tidy leaves through the year. It clips beautifully as a hedge plant or when grown against a wall, trellis or fence. Once established, it's vandal proof.

Pyracanthas always look great mixed together, especially as hedging so have a look at our Orange Glow and Yellow Soleil d'Or.

See our full selection of pyracantha hedging plants.

Growing Pyracantha Red Column

It grows in almost any soil, as long as it isn't waterlogged, although it loves clay. Improve poor soil with compost before planting. It's good in shady and exposed locations.

In August, lightly trim new growth to about three leaves in front of the ripening berries for a better display of fruit in Autumn.
Best pruned as necessary in winter, when new growth can be cut back hard to encourage bushiness and flowering.

Good for hedges to 2.5metres, planted at 2 per metre in a single row.
