Growing Verbena
Thrives in full sun in any well-drained soil. If happy, it self-seeds around the place to create a purple haze and most people leave the stalks in place during winter both for some interest and to let the seeds spread naturally.
It may not be fully hardy in a cold winter in more northerly situations, where it can be treated as a self-seeding annual.

Verbena bonariensis has become a stalwart of the garden in recent years, both in cottage-style borders and more formal schemes.
