They'll not grow "in the dark" but they thrive in dappled shade and at the foot of hedgerows. In spring these bulbs will be the highlight of any woodland display; if they're planted in decent soil they'll increase by division and by seed year after year.
The typical mix contains (stock allowing):

All the bulbs in the mix are premium sized to ensure good flowering and establishment in the first year after planting. Because of their size they'll also multiply sooner and more rapidly.
